What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a therapy in which thin needles are inserted into the skin at various points to alleviate pain or disease. The therapy originated from traditional Chinese medicine.

Why choose acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a widely accepted form of complementary and alternative medicine in the West. It combines well with conventional medical treatment.
As a drug-free treatment option, acupuncture is safe and highly beneficial when performed by a licensed practitioner, with little or no side effects.
Acupuncture also helps control pain in patients for whom pain medications are not suitable.

How is acupuncture done?

In each treatment session, the acupuncturist begins by evaluating the patient’s symptoms, pulse characteristics and overall condition. Afterwards, sterile, single-use needles are applied at precise acupuncture points on the skin which affect specific organ systems or functions in the body. Needle insertion is painless or may cause a brief tingling sensation. The length, frequency and number of treatment sessions will depend on the patient’s condition

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture influences the nervous, cardiovascular, endocrine and immune systems. As a result, it is able to improve circulation, release of natural painkillers, tissue repair and other areas of functioning.
